ABEBOOKS.COM ANNOUNCES NEW VENTURE IN AUSTRALIA
11th October 2000
(Victoria, BC) - AbeBooks.com, the world's leading source
for out-of-print and hard-to-find books, announces a new partnership
with Australia's BiblioQuest International Inc. Co-operation between
the two companies will expand the market for abebooks.com's 6,700
member booksellers, enabling them to build a customer base in
Australia and New Zealand.
This new partnership marks another step forward
for the Victoria-grown web site, which is thriving in an increasingly
tough Internet economy. AbeBooks' site provides the technology,
marketing, and business support for independent booksellers around
the world to enter into e-commerce. In recent years, the company
has developed successful partnerships with Barnes and Noble (a
major U.S. bookseller), eBay (an online auction site), 21 North
Main (a U.S. library and institutional reseller), and Akaikutsu
(a reseller in Japan).
"We are looking forward to working with BiblioQuest,"
Director of Marketing Judy Kam said. "This type of international
partnership is key to expanding our business and enriching the
businesses of our booksellers. Our booksellers enjoy many benefits
through these programs, including targeted advertising, consolidated
overseas shipping, and simplified procedures for international
commerce."
Established in 1994, BiblioQuest International Inc.
is a search service to help book lovers locate hard-to-find books.
Within the new partnership, BiblioQuest will concentrate on expanding
Australia and New Zealand's market for used, rare, and out-of-print
books with a new customer-focused web site, toll-free telephone
ordering, extensive advertising, and by providing a range of convenient
shipping options for both customers and dealers.BiblioQuest International
will launch two remodeled web sites to support their partnership
with abebooks.com later this month: www.BibliOz.com and www.BibliOz.com.au.
