ABEBOOKS.COM CREATES TWO SENIOR POSITIONS

(Victoria, BC) - AbeBooks.com, today announced the appointments
of Keith Waters, to Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Vivian
Pura to Vice President, Human Resources. Both positions will report
directly to Brent James, President and Chief Executive Officer.

impact as we sharpen our focus within the bookselling arena and
on the critical systems needed to grow our core businesses in
2001 and beyond, says Brent James, CEO of abebooks.com. In his
new role as CIO, Mr. Waters will continue to provide leadership
and in-depth technical expertise while focusing on accelerating
product expansion, including new offerings such as abelibrary.com,
a customized service for librarians looking to source hard-to-find
books.
Mr. Waters is a founder of abebooks.com and holds a Bachelor of
Computer Science from the University of Victoria.
Mrs. Pura will be responsible for all of the company's human resources
functions including employee relations, training and development,
wage and compensation, benefits administration, legal compliance,
recruiting and placement, and safety and loss control.
Mrs. Pura holds Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of
Science in Family Studies from the University of Manitoba.
