ABEBOOKS SHARES THE SECRET OF FINDING RARE BOOKS ONLINE,
AT THE L.A. TIMES FESTIVAL OF BOOKS
(LOS ANGELES, CA)
April 26, 2003- AbeBooks, the world's largest online marketplace
for used, rare and out-of-print books is taking part in this year's
L.A. Times Festival of Books, April 26 and 27 at UCLA. (BOOTH #914)
AbeBooks, the company that lists books for ten thousand independent
booksellers on its site www.abebooks.com, has been called "the
Internet's best kept secret" by the New York Times, and the
savior of small, secondhand book sellers. AbeBooks is attending
the L.A. Festival to let more people know that AbeBooks.com is
the source for 40 million books-from rare collectible copies and
signed first editions, to secondhand bestsellers and used textbooks,
to comics and magazines, to out-of-print books, manuals, and maps.
AbeBooks CEO Brent James explains: "This festival is a chance
for us to share the "secret" of AbeBooks with a new
group of booklovers. We'll help people discover AbeBooks.com,
just like Vancouver booklover Patrick Cleary did last week:
'Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been looking for several
out-of-print books for the past 15 years with no success. Now
I've found five of the seven on AbeBooks.com and have ordered
them. Better than gold for my collection.'"
Everyone who visits the AbeBooks booth (#914) receives an AbeBooks
"goodie bag" and is invited to enter a draw for a trip
to New York, in return for filling in a short survey. There will
be bookmark coloring stations for kids, and AbeBooks' marketing
& communications staff will be on hand to discuss AbeBooks.com
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is America's largest
literary event with over 300 authors taking part in readings,
literary panels, and book signings. The festival also includes
displays by booksellers, publishers, and other exhibitors, and
offers a range of book-related children's activities. Free to
the public, the Festival takes place Saturday, April 26, 2003
(10am-6pm) & Sunday, April 27, 2003 (10am-5pm) at the UCLA
campus.
AbeBooks is the world's largest online marketplace for secondhand,
rare, and out-of-print books with over 40 million books listed
by over 10,000 booksellers. AbeBooks connects those who buy books
with those who sell books, providing abundant selection at affordable
prices. AbeBooks is a global company based in Canada with sites
dedicated to bookbuyers in North America (AbeBooks.com), France
(AbeBooks.fr), Germany (AbeBooks.de), and the UK (AbeBooks.co.uk).
