ABEBOOKS LAUNCHES "TEXTBOOK CENTRAL" TO SERVE ITS GROWING
COMMUNITY OF STUDENT BOOKBUYERS
AbeBooks.com, the world's largest online marketplace for used,
rare, and out-of-print books launches a new area for used textbooks
and offers students a chance to win their tuition.
(Victoria, BC) --AbeBooks, the world's largest online marketplace
for used, rare and out-of-print books, today announced the launch
of "Textbook Central"-a new area on its website created
specifically for students and textbook buyers.
"We've heard three things from students this year: they
want cheap textbooks, easy online searching, and of course-someone
to pay their tuition!" explained Marci Crossan, AbeBooks
spokesperson.
The new website area (www.AbeBooks.com/Textbooks) features a
contest for students to win $2000 each semester to help pay their
tuition. Winners are drawn twice a year (once in November and
once in April) from all students who have purchased books on the
site.
AbeBooks.com/Textbooks provides students with easy access to
the AbeBooks database of over 45 million used books which are
listed by 11,000 independent booksellers. The database includes
millions of secondhand textbooks, reference books, literature,
poetry, study guides, and nearly-new bestsellers. And since these
books are secondhand, it's common to find discounts of up to 90%
off new book prices.
Other benefits of Textbook Central include a student-focused
"wants list", where students can enter the name of a
book they need and AbeBooks will e-mail them when it's available.
Textbook Central also provides a handy list of popular reference
books and quick links to all the secondhand copies available on
AbeBooks.
The new area was created to assist college students but also
meets the needs of faculty, librarians, researchers, continuing
education students, high school students, and general book buyers.
