CENTURY 21 CANADA FOUNDER PETER THOMAS PUBLISHES
HIS ‘LIFEMANUAL’ TO RAISE FUNDS TO TREAT MENTAL ILLNESS
(Victoria, BC – November 9, 2005) The founder of Canada’s
largest real estate network, Peter H Thomas, is raising money
to combat mental illness and also help people navigate past life’s
obstacles through the publication of LifeManual.
Thomas - who founded Century 21 Canada in 1973 and splits his
time between homes in Victoria, Arizona and Switzerland - has
exclusively partnered with Victoria-based online bookseller AbeBooks.com
to offer LifeManual to booklovers around the globe.
And LifeManual has already created a stir with the first
1000 copies rapidly selling out. Mark Victor Hansen, author of Chicken
Soup for the Soul, said: “I guarantee LifeManual will
create the future you deserve. Peter Thomas walks the talk with
energy and truth. This book will change your life.”
LifeManual is exclusively available online from AbeBooks.com
at (CAD) $29.95 or (US) $24.95. The website is donating its commission
on each book sold to Peter’s fundraising foundation and
visitors can enter a contest to win a bespoke counseling session
with Peter Thomas. AbeBooks will promote the book to millions
of book-buyers via its homepage and monthly ‘Avid Reader’ e-newsletter.
It took the tragic suicide of his son, Todd, for Peter to evaluate
his own life and start down the path to the publication of LifeManual – a
book designed to help people in their personal and business lives.
Peter, who eventually sold Century 21 Canada, earned millions
from his business career but Todd’s death in 2000 gave
him a different perspective on life.
As Todd suffered from mental illness, Peter founded the Todd
Thomas Foundation – an organization devoted to raising
awareness of mental illness, erasing its stigma and helping to
develop treatments. He has also hosted a program of seminars
called ‘LifePilot’ - a set of activities and mental
exercises that leads the participant to self discovery.
Based on setting goals around values that matter, LifeManual encapsulates
the essence of LifePilot. Proceeds from LifeManual, which
has been self-published, will go towards tackling mental illness.
“My son’s death was the motivation behind the book,” said
Peter. “LifeManual is an operations’ manual
for life. I want to help people align their life with values
that are important to them. Todd was very spiritual and believed
in all the principles outlined in this book. I know he would
be very proud of what we’re doing.”
“Self-help books are one of the most popular genres in
bookselling,” said Hannes Blum, president and CEO of AbeBooks. “We’re
happy to help such a worthy cause and we have a tremendous amount
of respect for the work that Peter is doing.”
Peter Thomas’ previous books were devoted to business.
Windows of Opportunity became a sales force handbook while Never
Fight with a Pig detailed lessons learnt in the real estate world.
