For immediate releaseCOMPARE TEXTBOOK PRICES IN SECONDS ON YOUR CELL-PHONENew text message service reveals lowest price on AbeBooks.com (Victoria, BC – 02 August 2007) Cash-strapped college students can now use their cell-phones to discover the lowest prices for textbooks at one of North America’s largest online textbook sellers anywhere anytime. By using TXT ABE, a new text message service offered by AbeBooks.com, students can discover textbook prices at AbeBooks.com in a simple process that takes seconds. Many students struggle to shop around for the best prices because ISBNs - the 10 or 13-digit book identification number - are often not included on university reading lists. (Searching by ISBN is the best way to find textbooks on the Internet – searches by author and title alone can bring up older editions of the required book.) TXT ABE is quick and easy to use. Students simply text the book’s ISBN (no spaces or dashes), found on the back cover, to ABEBKS (short code 223257) and they will receive a reply in less than 60 seconds revealing the lowest price for a new copy of their textbook on AbeBooks.com. If the student wishes to purchase from AbeBooks.com, they reply to the price comparison message and insert “fwd” and their email address. AbeBooks.com then replies to the email address with an email containing a link to the webpage where the book is listed for sale. The student can buy it when they log on to their PC. A major force in the online textbook market, AbeBooks.com is an Internet marketplace dedicated to new and used books. It offers a vast selection of new and secondhand textbooks at affordable prices - often up to 90% cheaper than list prices - from a large number of booksellers. “The Internet makes shopping around very easy, but many students have difficulty comparing textbook prices before visiting the bookstore because ISBNs are missing from reading lists,” said Richard Davies from AbeBooks.com. “By harnessing the accessibility of the Internet and cell-phones, we’re going to show that there are affordable alternatives to the sky-high list prices for textbooks.” Anyone in the US with a cell-phone using the following carriers can use TXT ABE - AT&T (formerly Cingular), Cellular One, Verizon, Nextel, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Boost, Alltel, and Sprint. Each provider’s standard text messaging fees apply. Sample ISBNs: - ends - About AbeBooks.com Contact: |
