While using HomeBase, you received an error message that provided an
explanation of the problem or a reference number. The
following information explains one of those errors and provides a resolution.

Error when starting HomeBase: (number) record(s)
cannot be read; no read permission on C:\ProgramFiles\hb2\hbdata.hbd.
Resolution
To resolve the problem, you are required to complete the following procedures:
- Back up your HomeBase hbdata.hbd file.
- Rename the "hbdata.hbd" file on your computer.
- Recover your data from the backup file.
To back up your hbdata.hbd file:
- In HomeBase, click on [File
| Backup].
- In the Backup HomeBase Data, click [Save].
- Close HomeBase.
To rename the "hbdata.hbd" file:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Locate the folder C:\Program Files\hb2.
- In the File
list, right-click the hbdata.hbd file and select [Rename].
- Change the extension of the file to .old (a precaution
just in case you are unable to recover the backup file).
To recover your backup:
- Start HomeBase.
- In the Set-up Wizard enter your personal information
again, including your UserID and Password.
- Click [File | Recover].
- Select the backup file you created.
- Click [Open]
to load your book records back into HomeBase.
