While using HomeBase, you received an error message that provided an explanation of the problem or a reference number.  The following information explains one of those errors and provides a resolution.

Error when starting HomeBase.

A brief explanation of the error:

Error when starting HomeBase: (number) record(s) cannot be read; no read permission on C:\ProgramFiles\hb2\hbdata.hbd.

Resolution

To resolve the problem, you are required to complete the following procedures:

 

To back up your hbdata.hbd file:

  1. In HomeBase, click on [File | Backup].
  2. In the Backup HomeBase Data, click [Save].
  3. Close HomeBase.
 

To rename the "hbdata.hbd" file:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Locate the folder C:\Program Files\hb2.
  3. In the File list, right-click the hbdata.hbd file and select [Rename].
  4. Change the extension of the file to .old (a precaution just in case you are unable to recover the backup file).
 

To recover your backup:

  1. Start HomeBase.
  2. In the Set-up Wizard enter your personal information again, including your UserID and Password.
  3. Click [File | Recover].
  4. Select the backup file you created.
  5. Click [Open] to load your book records back into HomeBase.
