AbeBooks is the world's largest online marketplace for used, rare and out-of-print books. Thousands of booksellers list their books through AbeBooks' facilities and sell their inventory to book buyers worldwide. An added benefit of selling books online is a faster turnover rate for your inventory. This keeps walk-in customers coming back to your traditional storefront in search of fresh, new books.
AbeBooks booksellers automatically have their books listed on the five AbeBooks Web sites: abebooks.com, abebooks.co.uk, abebooks.de, and abebooks.fr. These Web sites expose your books to millions of book buyers around the world. In addition, AbeBooks has developed partnerships with major Resellers to further increase your inventory's exposure. Participation in our Reseller Programs is optional. There is no additional charge to participate in these programs.
Before starting our application process, we recommend that you enter some of your books in inventory management software, such as HomeBase. (download HomeBase now). If you require assistance describing your book, please refer to our glossary. Once your application has been processed, you will be able to upload your books to AbeBooks Web sites.
*Please note that the subscription fees for being a bookseller on AbeBooks begin once your application has been processed. For example, if you become a bookseller with us in October, but don't upload any books until November, you will still receive a bill for US$ 25 for October's subscription fees.
You are required to have an AbeBooks book buyer account to become a bookseller. Once you have a book buyer account, you need to complete the online bookseller application form. We require your contact and banking information in order to process your orders and to pay you. Please have your banking information, credit card, e-mail address and contact information ready.
You can access the online application form by clicking the link to sell books.
After you complete the application form you are accepted into the AbeBooks bookseller program. Please review the subscription rates.
AbeBooks needs to know what software you are using to manage your inventory. We provide free, easy-to-use inventory-management software, HomeBase 2.3. If you do require help while using HomeBase 2.3, or any other of AbeBooks' functions, we provide detailed Help files to walk you through every process, and have a friendly and knowledgeable customer service staff.
You need to select your acceptable payment methods. All books on AbeBooks are available for purchase via MasterCard and Visa; if you do not have merchant accounts, AbeBooks processes these credit cards for you. You can also select other credit cards and methods for payment.
AbeBooks deposits payments to your account by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). If you live in a country that supports the direct deposit process, we require your banking information in order to pay you with this fast, easy method.
To provide book buyers with a consistent ordering experience, all booksellers agree to use the adjustable AbeBooks shipping matrix. This shipping matrix outlines pre-set maximum shipping rates and speeds. You can adjust your rates and speeds within the shipping matrix, but may not exceed the pre-set maximums.
If you have a homepage for your bookstore, AbeBooks is happy to post it on our Web site. Interested book buyers and booksellers can view your homepage when they search your online inventory!
