Asking the Bookseller a Question

Before purchasing a book on AbeBooks, you may have questions that you would like to ask the bookseller; what edition is it, is it a hardcover copy, are additional copies available or how will the book be shipped?  

Also, after the seller has confirmed your order, you may have questions about the shipping; were there any problems, or why has my book not arrived yet?  

In either case, you can ask a question of the bookseller directly from the AbeBooks Web site.

To ask the bookseller a question about a book before purchasing:

  1. On the "Search Results" page, click the "[Ask Bookseller a Question]" link within the book listing that you are interested in.

    If you placed the book in your shopping basket, click [View Basket] above the red banner and click the "[Ask Question]" link under the appropriate book.




  2. On the "Ask Question" page, enter your question in the "Comments or questions" box.  Note:  If you are signed into your AbeBooks account, the e-mail address field will be filled in with the address associated with your account.  The subject field will also be automatically populated.  You may however, edit the information in both of these fields.

  3. Click the [Send Question] button.

 

An e-mail message is sent to the Bookseller on your behalf, and a copy is saved in your AbeBooks account.

 

To ask the bookseller a question about a book after you have ordered:

 

  1. Sign on to your AbeBooks account.
     

  2. Click [Your Purchases] in the Members Menu.


     

  3. Click [View your purchases] in the Your Purchases menu.


     

  4. Locate the book order on the "Track Your Purchases" page and click [Item details].
     

  5. Click the [Ask Bookseller a Question] button.


     

  6. On the "Ask Question" page, enter your question in the "Comments or questions" box.  Note:  The e-mail address field will be filled in with the address associated with your account.  The subject field will automatically include the item number of the book.  You may however, edit the information in both of these fields.
     

  7. Click the [Send Question] button.  

An e-mail message is sent to the bookseller on your behalf, and a copy is saved on your account.   

Security tip – Please do not send credit card numbers or confidential information via e-mail or other non-secure methods.
