Advanced Search Feature

AbeBooks offers an advanced search feature to help you find the book you are looking for by allowing you to enter detailed information. Entering too much search information at one time may return no results. It is recommended that you build your search slowly, adding or changing the criteria as you go.

To use the Advanced Search:

1. On any AbeBooks web page, click [Advanced Search] in the red banner.
   
   
   
2. Enter the search criteria you want to use and click [Start Search].
   
   
3. To do a second search with different criteria, click [Clear Fields].

Search Criteria

The information you enter in the various search fields will help you narrow your search.

• Author: The name of the author can be entered as: King, Stephen or Stephen King.
• Title: The full title or portion of the title can be entered as: The Crossing, Crossing, or Cross.
• Publisher: The publisher of the book.
• Published Date: The date of book publication or a date range.
• Keywords: The keyword field searches every other field.  When a search is done by keyword, the author, title, description and publisher fields are all checked for possible matches.
• ISBN: International Standard Book Numbers can be entered in the format of 0670451932, 0-670-45193-2 or 0 670 45193 2.  The AbeBooks database tries to match ISBNs to books without any listed but cannot guarantee correct matches. Please be sure to review each book description to ensure it is the correct item before placing an order. If you have any questions, please contact the bookseller for further information regarding the book.
• Country: You can search for books located in a specific country.  To save money on shipping charges, you may wish to purchase from sellers located in your country or another country close to you.
• Binding: This is either hardcover or soft cover. These terms may be different in the book description. If you don't have a preference, you may leave the criteria as "Any Binding".
• Attributes: You can select the specific attributes of: First Edition, Signed by the author, or Dust Jacket.
• Price: Search results returned will be within your minimum or maximum price range.
• Sort by: This affects the order the list is displayed. Please ensure your selection does not conflict with your other criteria. For example, selecting sort by Author A-Z when you have the criteria of Stephen King in the author field will have no effect.
• Results per page: The number of books listed per page in your search.  Additional pages of search results are available by clicking the page number or [next] at the bottom of the search list
• Boolean Searching: Boolean searches use operators to perform more specific queries. Using “and”, “or”, and “not” (Boolean operators) allows you to refine the search by adding or removing specific terms.  You can turn Boolean searching on or off using the radio buttons next to the “Boolean Search".
