Downloading Your Pending HomeBase File
If you have requested that your inventory be converted into a HomeBase
2 file, you can download the new file from the Members Menu once you receive
an e-mail notification that the pending file is available.
To download the file to your computer:
- Click [sign on]
and enter your E-mail Address and Password.
- Click [Downloads]
in the Members Menu.
- Click the [Download
Your Pending HomeBase File Now!] button in the Downloads menu.
You have the option of immediately downloading the file or displaying
the file before you download it.
To display and download the file:
- Click the link [Click
here to download the latest HomeBase 2 import file]. You
can scroll up and down to view your file.
- To download the file, click [Save
As] in the File menu.
- In the Save As
dialog box, browse to your desktop.
- Click [Save]
to transfer the file to your computer.
To download the file without viewing it first:
- Right-click the [Click
here to download the latest HomeBase 2 import file]
link and if you are using:
- Internet Explorer, select [Save
Target As].
- Netscape, select [Save
Link As].
- In the Save As
dialog box, browse to your desktop.
- Click [Save]
to transfer the file to your computer.
When
your file is finished downloading, you can disconnect from the Internet.
An "Error
Report" is displayed detailing any data that was not transferred
correctly. Click
[Print] or [Save
As] in the File menu to keep a copy of the errors, and then click
[Close]. Even if no errors occurred,
an Error Report is displayed.
To import the file into HomeBase 2.1 or HomeBase 2.3:
- Open HomeBase.
- Click File in the menu bar. Select
[Import/Export] then [Import].
- Select one of the following option buttons:
- [Merge]:
This option combines all of the data you are importing with the book records
already present in your HomeBase.
- [Zap]:
This option deletes all the book records you have in your HomeBase file
and replaces them with the imported file. If
you select [Zap] you will lose
any existing wants, multiple catalogue listings, client data, and invoice
data. This
option should only be used if you do not already have data in HomeBase
or if you are positive you want to overwrite all of your present data.
- Click [OK].
- In the Import Books
dialog box, browse to your desktop and select the HomeBase file.
- Click [Open].
Notes:
- You need to upload your file to AbeBooks after it
has been imported into HomeBase. Please
send a message to us first indicating that you are
uploading in this format; be sure to include your UserID.
- The time it takes to import your file will depend
on the amount of information in the file.
