Partial Returns

You can initiate a partial return on an item if you would like to refund the buyer either a portion of the book price, the shipping price, or both.

To request a partial refund:

1. Click [sign on] and enter your E-mail Address and Password.
2. Click [Process your Orders] from the Quick Links menu to access the "Order List" screen.
3. Enter the AbeBooks purchase order number.  
4. Click the [List Orders] button.
5. On the "Order List" screen, click [Request a Refund] for the book that requires a refund.
6. Select [Other/Adjustment] from the menu. You may also add comments for the return.
7. Enter the amount of the refund into the appropriate box (either for shipping or book price or both).
8. Click [Complete Return/Refund].  A confirmation screen will appear, letting you know the refund has been completed.

Notes:

• The amount of the partial refund cannot exceed 75% of the book price.
• Refund of shipping charge cannot exceed the original shipping charge (including extra or reduced prices).
• Partial returns do not affect your return rate.  The AbeBooks agreement states returns should not be greater than 2% of your total orders.
• Once a partial return has been processed, it is not possible to cancel the partial return to initiate a return for the full amount.
• Commission and processing fees (if applicable) are not refunded on partial refunds.
