Once a return is initiated, it is available for processing online. To
process returns, you will need to be signed into your AbeBooks account.
To locate a return:
To find a return that has been initiated, select
[Review Returns Billed to Your Account].
A list of your active returns will be displayed.
Select the appropriate return and select one of the
following:
[Confirm Receipt]
– the buyer will be refunded immediately.
[Cancel Return/Refund]
– no refund will be issued. If
the buyer has provided tracking information for the return shipment, this
option will not be available. You
will be provided with the tracking information and be asked to contact
the buyer or the shipping company.
[Notify AbeBooks
of Missing Shipment] - AbeBooks will contact the buyer regarding
the shipment. If
they are unable to provide proof of shipping, the return will be cancelled
by AbeBooks.
Click the [Confirm]
button to confirm the return.
Note:
When a buyer initiates a book return for the reason
"Item Not As Described," you may feel the item was, in fact,
as described. While
the refund must be accepted, you have the option of agreeing or disagreeing
with the buyer's assessment. If
you disagree with the buyer's assessment through our online facility,
the buyer will not be reimbursed the return shipping.
An e-mail reminder is sent to you if the return is
not completed after 21 calendar days (for domestic shipment) and 70 calendar
days (for international shipment). If
seven days pass after the reminder is sent and the return still has not
been completed, it will be automatically completed by our system. All
extra charges (whether increases or decreases) will be included in the
shipping costs and will be returned to the buyer.
14 calendar days after the return is initiated, the
[Notify AbeBooks of Missing Shipment]
button appears. You
can use this button if the book buyer has sent the book but you have not
yet received it. When
you use this button, it sends a notice to AbeBooks' Customer Support.
We ask
that you wait at least seven days after the button appears before clicking
it in order to give the book time to arrive.
