The AbeBooks shipping matrix is designed to ensure a more consistent ordering experience for book buyers on the AbeBooks Web site. It contains the estimated cost to ship an average weight book from your country to both domestic and international destinations. Each destination includes rates for priority and standard shipping speeds. The average shipping weight is based upon a 2.2 lb (1 kg) package for the first item and 1.1 lb (0.5 kg) for each additional item. You can add countries to your shipping matrix (book buyers in countries not in your shipping matrix are charged the "International" rate), as well as increase and decrease rates and times.
Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and "International" are the default destinations on the AbeBooks shipping matrix, as these are the countries where AbeBooks has Web sites and does business. Your "International" rates apply to countries not in the matrix; you can add other countries to your matrix if you would like specific shipping rates and speeds applied to them.
Book buyers located in the countries in your shipping matrix are charged the corresponding rates and should receive their orders within the quoted time frame. Book buyers in countries not listed are charged the "International" rate.
Book buyers see the changed rates for shipping.
If you would like to re-set all of your shipping rates and speeds back to the default settings, this can be done automatically. This function restores all of the original rates and speeds and it removes the countries you have added to the shipping matrix.
If you find that you are rarely shipping to a country in your shipping matrix, you can remove that country. Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and "International" cannot be removed from your shipping matrix.
Book buyers located in the removed country are now charged your "International" rate when ordering from you. Their packages are required to arrive within your quoted "International" time.
