Opening the Australian Market

Abebooks staff member Andréa is traveling through Australia in July and August to promote Abebooks to book buyers and sellers. Abebooks is the first international online bookseller to launch sites dedicated to the Australian and New Zealand markets, and Australian booksellers are seeing immediate benefits to selling books online.

Guy Weller, general manager of Mr. Pickwick's Bookshop in Katoomba, New South Wales is one of the 300 Australian and New Zealand booksellers now selling via Abebooks. "Frankly, we are impressed. In a very short period, Internet sales via Abebooks have climbed to around 14% of our total sales, and we sell a lot of books in our store."

Find out more about Andréa's travels and successes down under: Gone Walkabout.

We receive many kudos from our book buyers about your fast responses to their queries and purchases. Thank you for helping to make Abebooks the largest marketplace for books online!

"This site is unbelievable. I have been searching for a particular book that I remember fondly as a child for the last 23 years. And in vain until now. Another book that I have also been searching for the same amount of time I also found. Both of these last night. The joy of ordering these books after all these years is hard to describe. The system is so simple, bookstores from all over the world, you don't have to worry about currencies, its already done, made so easy with credit card payment facilities. Keep up the good work, you guys are the best." - Ramona, Germany
