Dear <ContactName>,

We’re writing to remind you that the new Abebooks Billing and Payment System will be launched in January, 2005. As previously announced, click here to review, the new offset billing system will save you time, provide you with daily payment and billing details, and make it easier for you to manage your Abebooks account. Please take a moment to review these important changes:

Previous System
New System
How am I paid? You were paid every week, and fees were charged once a month. You will still be paid every week, but fees will now be offset from payments on a weekly basis. (Monthly subscriptions, seller direct commissions, and other outstanding fees will be invoiced and charged on the first Friday of the month.)
How do I view my statement? You were able to view your account history via monthly account statements on the Members Menu. You can now use the Members Menu to view detailed transactions by the day, week or statement period. Downloadable statements covering a calendar month will also be available so you can import this information for your own records.
When am I paid? Payments were made to you on Thursdays, for all orders updated to shipped status over the previous week. To review the payment schedule, please click here. Payments will now be made to your bank each Friday, for the net amount owing on your account. You will receive notification of the exact payment one week before we send the amount to your bank.*
When do I receive my emailed statement? Account statements were sent out during the first 10 days of the month. Statements will now be sent out on the first Friday of every month.
How is the book payment calculated? You were paid for books sold based on the book’s listing currency converted to your payment currency. (For booksellers under the Abebooks.com agreement, this was either US, Canadian, or Australian dollars.) All booksellers belonging to the Abebooks Canada Agreement will now be paid in the US dollar equivalent of your list price converted by Abebooks to your payment currency (USD, CAD, AUD, NZD). This is because fees will also be offset in US dollars
If I sell a book through Amazon, BNBQ, or another reseller, when am I paid? Reseller payments were made one to four weeks after the sale, depending on the program. All reseller payments will be included in the new off-set process. This means, payments will not be made on an item-by-item basis, rather they will be paid as part of your account balance. Reseller payments will now be included in the payment for the week in which the order/return completed. View Payment Schedule

* The exact date of deposit will depend on your banking institution.

To help you transition to the new billing system, please note the following important dates:

January 5th: Our new online reports will be available from this date. You will be able to review daily transactions on your account, including sales and payment information.

January 7th: This is the first monthly statement date under the new system. You will receive two statements of your account: a final statement from our old system as well as an opening statement from our new system.

January 10th: If you have questions, we encourage you to post them in our January Roundtable Event folder at http://forums.abebooks.com/abecomeng.

January 12th: Join us for an interactive discussion and review our answers to your posted questions online in the January Roundtable Event found at: http://forums.abebooks.com/abecomeng.

We hope you will find this new system a benefit to your business, and we are ready to work with you to make this transition as smooth as possible. Please find a moment prior to the launch on January 5th to preview our online reports, which can be found at Bookseller Central in the FAQs section.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at sellertech@abebooks.com. We appreciate your business and look forward to a very successful 2005.

Sincerely,
