Preventing Orders For Previously Sold Books

There are several reasons that a book can end up online even though it has been sold. The most common reasons are:

  • If sold online, but not marked as Sold in your database, the books can be accidentally uploaded For Sale again in future.
  • You’ve sold a book outside of Abebooks, but have not yet uploaded your changes to us.
  • Over time it's possible that one or two uploaded files have had transmission errors. If the complete contents of your upload file are not processed, we may have missed Sold records from you, meaning you have books online that have actually been sold.

Reducing Buyer Refund Requests for Late Items

Delays in the mail can happen, and buyers are not always patient. As buyers can request refunds through our system for orders that are delayed by 15 days or more, it is a good idea to take proactive measures to prevent these requests.

Roundtable

Join us for the next Roundtable on February 24th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PST. This month's special guest will be our new PR and Publicity Manager, Richard Davies. BNBQ Shipping Manifest Update

Barnes & Noble shipping manifests, which are currently in PDF form, will be replaced with traditional HTML manifests. This means a more user-friendly format for you, with none of the PDF-related technical and printer problems. We plan to have this online in late March or early April. Watch for future messages with further details.

Amazon A-Z Claims

Amazon guarantees the purchase of items ordered through their Web sites for return reasons “Item did not arrive” and “Item not as described.” If a buyer initiates an A to Z claim for an item that did not arrive, they will be refunded unless the bookseller has previously provided tracking information online for this order. Find instructions on how to add tracking information onto our Web site and read about recent Amazon policy updates.
