Dear <ContactName>,

Next week, we are taking the first steps in an ongoing revitalization project that will improve many important areas of our systems, including our inventory management products, search, and wants. The ultimate goal of all of these improvements is to make it even easier and faster for customers to find the books they want.

This First Stage of Improvements Includes:

  • New and Improved Book Details: As always, we will display information provided by the bookseller first and foremost, but now we are working with our ISBN data providers, including MUZE, to automatically add details (when available) such as jacket photos, synopses, reviews, and bibliographic data. Simply include an ISBN when you send us your book data to help us match your book with this new information. Buyers like to see details – they are much more likely to purchase if they can see an image of the book, or read a synopsis.

As part of the new Book Details page, we have created a brand-new “Bookseller & Payments” page which is attached to each listing and highlights your bookstore information, along with your terms of sale.

  • Vacation End Dates: Going on vacation? Just tell us when you will be leaving and when you will be back, and we’ll not only have your books automatically removed while you’re gone but ready for sale again when you return.  (It’s easy to update your return date if you decide to stay at the beach another few days!)

  • Improved Bookstores Tab (using our Endeca Search): Browsers going through the Bookstores tab will now benefit from the same features as those using our full Search system, including all the new refinements like “first edition” and “hard cover.”

  • Better Wants Emails: We’ve rewritten our Want match e-mails to be much clearer and easier to understand.  We’ve also set them to be sent once per day rather than whenever a Want match is made, to make them easier for the receiver to manage.

  • Online Inventory Management Updates: We’ve added new fields and improved navigation options for our Online Inventory Management system, bringing it more inline with our HomeBase 2.3 and custom conversion options.

You may experience some delays in updating your inventory (including sending picture files) during the next week, while we roll in these improvements. To avoid this as much as possible and to help us with the transition, please avoid any large scale updates to your inventory during that week. However, it is important that you keep your inventory up-to-date and send us your deleted books as usual.

Please watch for more news in the Fall, when we’ll get ready to launch even more product enhancements including our new HomeBase 3.0, and Online Inventory Management System with more buyer search attribute fields. We'll also introduce a quantity field (which we will be beta testing in August).

As always, we invite you to join us for our next Roundtable Event in the Bookseller Community Forums on August 10th at 11 am PT. This will be a great opportunity for you to discuss these new enhancements with our Product Management Team. We'll open for questions on August 8th. [Bookseller Forums]

We’re very excited about these new features and look forward to introducing you to even more improvements over the coming months.
