Dear [bookseller],
First, we'd
like to thank all of the booksellers who completed the survey about thumbnails
in search – we had one of our highest response rates yet! We appreciate your feedback on this and all of our initiatives.
We'll be launching
thumbnails in search as a permanent feature next week with some changes
to our original design based on your suggestions.
- Only bookseller-supplied
or ISBN-matched photos will appear in the search results. The "no image" picture
will not be displayed in search results, but buyers will see it on the
Listing Details page.
- The "stock photo" label accompanying ISBN-matched pictures will be re-named "Publisher’s
Photo." We sent a second poll to Advisory Group members to decide on this new
wording.
We encourage
all of our booksellers to upload pictures of their books so that buyers
can verify the edition, condition, and any special features like an author's
signature. You can send us your pictures by FTP or the Members Menu to instantly
increase buyer confidence in your listings. [Learn
more in Online Help.]
We're continually
improving our ISBN matching process so that mismatches are even less likely
to occur. Keep these three tips in mind to prevent mismatches on your listings:
1. Don't re-use
BookIDs.
2. Provide as many bibliographic details about each listing
as possible.
3. Use the NOISBN keyword if you do find a mismatch.
We're looking
forward to seeing pictures in the search results, and we know that
buyers are too! Sincerely,
Your Abebooks
Team
