Hello,

We’re launching a new shopping basket on all of the AbeBooks Web sites this fall to make it easier for people to buy more of your books. We’ll begin with a test on the AbeBooks.de and AbeBooks.fr.. Here’s what you’ll see:

What's New in the Shopping Basket

Buyers have a "Save for later" option. If they don't want to purchase a book now, they can opt to save it and buy it later rather than be forced to remove it from their basket.
Previously, when a book was sold to another buyer or became unavailable (because the bookseller went on vacation, for example), it would be removed from a buyers shopping basket. Now, we'll indicate that the book isn't available any longer, and we’ll provide a link to search for more copies by ISBN or by author and title if it is a non-ISBN book.
The check out process has been streamlined so buyers can complete the process quicker.
Quantity has been added. If you use quantity for your listings, the buyer will have the option to increase the number of copies they buy without searching for the book again.
The address book and credit card functions include more options, including a fast two-step checkout for any buyer with saved preferences.

The Launch Plan
The new shopping basket is available on AbeBooks.de and AbeBooks.fr right now, so if you are making a purchase through one of those sites you will see the new shopping basket in place.

Based on the positive performance results of this test, the new shopping basket will be live on AbeBooks.com and AbeBooks.co.uk before the end of the month.
