The New Sales & Account Management Team
We're sad to announce that Sue Connors, Director of Sales & Account Management, has accepted an opportunity with another company. After almost 8 years with AbeBooks, we're sad to see her go, but wish her well with her new career. [Read Sue's goodbye message.] Shaun Jamieson is re-joining the team with Jordan, Marc and Maria to work with our booksellers in the coming year. You can meet all of them during the Roundtable on January 18th.

    Bookseller Summit 2007
For this year's 2nd annual summit, we want to focus on our rare and antiquarian booksellers. [Read more about who's invited and the agenda.]

    Coming Soon: LibraryThing Recommendations
Buyers have always loved how easy it is to search for a book on AbeBooks, but people unsure of what to buy have been less successful browsing. Starting next month, we'll display recommendations from LibraryThing on the Listing Details page, below your book details, to help browsers find more books they're interested in. The recommendations are based on the books read and owned by LibraryThing users. [Check out a screenshot.]

    Bookseller Survey 2006
Thank you to all of our booksellers who participated in our Bookseller Survey! More than 3,000 of you told us about your stores, your inventory, and your hopes for the future of bookselling. We're compiling the results now, and will share them with you soon.

    Multi-ISBN Search in Textbook Central
We've added a multi-ISBN search to Textbook Central so that time-crunched students can enter their textbook ISBNs on one screen and then quickly add the lowest-priced copies to their basket with one click. We hope to see more multi-item orders with the introduction of this feature.

    Search Refinements Test
Ten percent of visitors over the last month have seen the newly-designed search results page and the results have been very positive. Today, we're making some small changes to the text on the test page and will continue testing for another few weeks. After that, we'll determine whether to launch the new design to all visitors. Watch the next Digest for updates!

    Security & Trust

Some fraudulent buyers contact booksellers by e-mail to avoid the fraud checks done in an online shopping basket. If you receive a request by e-mail to order a book, we recommend asking the buyer to place their order through the shopping basket. A valid buyer shouldn't have a problem with the request, and a fraudulent one likely won't respond.

    Kudos

"I've purchased six or seven books through AbeBooks. What I appreciate, apart from the ability to put my finger on a given book, is that each book has been has described. And just as important, I am supporting independent booksellers - an endangered breed, in my book. I've purchased books from Detroit, upstate New York and Colorado, greatly extending my browsing ability and giving these shops a boost." - Happy Customer
