Last weekend's introduction of daylight savings time in Canada reminded us of how many time zones our booksellers live in around the world, so we've updated our Roundtable schedule to include two chats on each day: one early in the morning, the other later in the afternoon. We hope you've caught up on your lost hour of sleep, and that we'll see you in one of the March chats!     Bookseller Summit
    The Summit was a success and we had the opportunity to discuss many new ideas and initiatives with the booksellers who attended. We enjoyed meeting so many of you at the California Fair and at the Summit, and look forward to implementing many of your suggestions as soon as we can. [Read Maria's Summit Re-Cap.]

    New Australia and New Zealand Plan
    As part of the Summit, we met with booksellers from the UK and Australia/New Zealand to discuss regional concerns and ideas. We’ve appointed a local representative and are happy to announce that Philip Israel of Leura Books has accepted the position. Phil is a long-time AbeBooks seller, was a member of our original advisory group and is an active participant on our seller forums. Phil will attend book fairs; work with us to expand the Australia/NZ content on our ANZ website; assist in distributing marketing materials; and generally support our current booksellers and attract new booksellers in both Australia and New Zealand.

    AbeBooks Headquarters on the Move!
    Our head office in Victoria, Canada is moving in April. We're staying in the same neighborhood but will be re-uniting our Customer Support and main office locations. Please make sure to update our address in your address book. Our new address is: 655 Tyee Road, Victoria, BC Canada V9A 6X5. All AbeBooks telephone numbers will remain the same.

    BookHints Are Live!
    Buyers love our new BookHints, recommendations powered by LibraryThing members.     HomeBase 3.0 Update
    We'll be launching HomeBase 3.0 to Advisory Group members and new booksellers, then expanding to all of our booksellers. If you aren't already of the Advisory Group and would like to have first access to the new program, sign up now!

    Harry Potter is back, and we've launched a Harry Potter Room where impatient fans can come for recommended reading including translations, books about magic, and an interview with the man who bought a $37,000 HP book on AbeBooks.     Remember to review your seller direct orders carefully before processing them and shipping the books. Here are a few tips to help prevent and manage suspicious orders:

    - Look up the postal code and ensure it matches the address.

    - Ship the book only after payment has been received.

    - Send the buyer an e-mail requesting address confirmation. A fraudulent buyer likely won't respond, and a valid buyer will appreciate your customer service.

    - Review the order using the Tips in our Security and Trust page.
