We're all settled in our new office building, but we're not sitting still for long. We hope to meet many of you at both Book Expo America and Book Expo Canada in June, as well as the Australian Booksellers Association Annual Conference in just a few weeks. We're also happy to share the results of the 2006 Bookseller Survey with you, introduce our newest search refinement for rare book specialists, and share some tips from our Customer Support team.

    2006 Bookseller Survey Results
Thanks to the more than 3,400 of you who participated in the 2006 Bookseller Survey and shared your feedback about your stores, inventory, and hopes and plans for the future. We're using this information to better understand our booksellers' needs when developing new products and features. We also want to share the results with you so you can learn more about the bookselling community you're part of! Congratulations to Turgid Tomes of Nashville who won our draw for a year's free subscription. [Review the results and winners.]

    The New AbeBooks Browse Launch
The new AbeBooks Browse will be launching to buyers before the end of the month. We'd like to thank the Advisory Group for taking the time to complete three surveys over the last six months to help refine the category list, the rules for assigning categories, and the layout of the pages the buyers will see. If you haven't started categorizing your books already, you can use the online listings manager or your custom conversion to start. Your books may also be ISBN-matched to categories.[Find out how you can categorize your books.]

Rare & Antiquarian Refinement in Search
In the next few weeks, we'll be launching a new refinement in the search results: Rare Book Specialists. Books listed by ILAB members will be displayed in search when a buyer uses this refinement. We'll be closely monitoring the results of this refinement in search and on orders, and will be reviewing feedback from buyers and booksellers. Sign up for the Advisory Group if you'd like to share your feedback!

    Shipping Matrix Updates
We announced updates to the maximum rates in the shipping matrices last week. We encourage all of our booksellers to review their rates and add more countries to their matrix to offer customized service to buyers around the world. [Review the Bulletin sent to booksellers in the U.S.A., Canada, or Australia & New Zealand.]

    AbeBooks Headquarters New Address
We're all unpacked and have learned our way to the nearest coffee shops in our new neighborhood. Make sure to update your records with our new address: 5th Floor - 655 Tyee Road, Victoria, BC Canada V9A 6X5

Refine Your Descriptions Using the Glossary
Test your book-description knowledge: What do the abbreviations ms, rem, and App stand for? What's the difference between a book in As New condition versus Fine? [Check your answers.] Describing your books inline with the AbeBooks glossary ensures buyers understand your descriptions, and can prevent returns for the reason "Item not as described." [Go to the Glossary.]

    Kudos

"Commonwealth Book Company, out of Ohio, was wonderful to deal with. The books they sold were competitively priced and in the condition (actually, slightly better) than advertised. They followed up personally to make sure that I was aware of the shipping estimates (date and costs) and then followed up to make sure that they had met my expectations." - Happy Customer
