AbeBooks Moves Data Storage Facility
As announced in the email we sent you earlier this week, the second phase of our data storage facility move is under way. Details can be found in the email, and also in the 'Web Site Status' folder in the Bookseller Forum. We will continue to post updates in the Forum throughout the move to keep you apprised of our progress, as well as to keep you informed of any potential problems that may arise.
“This Week at AbeBooks”
As a direct result of the Roundtable Discussion on Tuesday, October 30, we have started to take a more proactive approach to providing updates on site issues by making better use of the 'Web Site Status' folder in the Bookseller Forum. We are striving to provide timely updates that are clear and direct, and our goal is to be as transparent as possible.
To that end, we have begun to post “This Week At AbeBooks,” a weekly summary of site updates. These summaries are posted in the Bookseller Forum every Friday and include announcements of new site features, promotions, and product launches. They also include updates on site problems that are ongoing and under investigation, as well as summaries of issues that have already been fixed. This weekly summary is not intended to replace the regular updates that are posted as problems or announcements arise, rather, it is a supplement to those posts. We hope that this will be a 'one-stop' information source, to which you can refer in case there are updates that you missed.

Naming Picture Files
by Kristy
One of the most successful strategies for online sales success is providing your own pictures. Doing so is beneficial for all book listings but particularly for higher-value items, since buyers love to see the actual item they are going to purchase.
If you are uploading your own photos, it is extremely important that each picture file be named correctly in order to be properly processed and associated with the correct listing. Each picture file must be named with the book ID number of the listing it belongs to. For example, a picture for Book ID number 001234 must be named 001234.jpg or 001234.gif. If any other file name is provided, the picture will not be displayed online.
Naming your picture files before you upload them is a simple process. Read more to find out how!
AbeBooks Story Laboratory
AbeBooks has launched Story Laboratory, a unique book-building workshop for children. Throughout the past year AbeBooks staff members have been visiting local libraries and writing festivals to help budding authors wrangle their stories and drawings into bindings. Each child proudly returns home with a hand-made first edition, signed by the author. The program has been so well received by the attendants (and their parents) that we’re expanding it. Story Laboratory ventured across the border for the first time just last week, with an appearance at Wordstock, Portland's premier book fair. Learn more about Story Laboratory!
