Step 1 - Determine which version of Abebooks Homebase is right for you

If you are running Windows 3.x then Abebooks Homebase 1.1 W is the right choice for you.

If you are using an Apple Macintosh 68K then Abebooks Homebase 1.1 68K is the right choice for you.

If you are using an Apple Macintosh Power PC then Abebooks Homebase 1.1 PPC is the right choice for you.


TipIf you're not sure what kind of Macintosh you have, select "About this Macintosh," under the Apple Menu.



Step 2 - Downloading Abebooks Homebase

Once you have determined which version of Abebooks Homebase you require, simply click on the desired link and your browser will prompt you to save the file. Make sure to save the file in a place you will easily find them.


TipMacintosh Users: If your browser does not automatically decompress binhexed files, you will need Stuffit Expander software to decompress the Macintosh Abebooks Homebase files. Download Stuffit for free.


Please be aware that Abebooks Homebase 1.1 is 1.4 MB, which is a lot of data for a modem connection to handle. The transfer should take 10-20 minutes depending on your modem, how busy the Internet is and how busy our system is. We suggest that you plan to download the program when your Internet Service Provider might not be too busy.

Installation Instructions

Step 1 - Locate the file

Locate the file you just downloaded on your hard-drive. Depending on what version of Abebooks Homebase you downloaded you will need to find:

Abebooks Homebase 1.1 for Windows 3.x - - HBV11INS.EXE

Abebooks Homebase 1.1 for Mac 68K - - HB68Knew.sea

Abebooks Homebase 1.1 for Mac PPC - - HBPPCnew.sea

Step 2 - Install Abebooks Homebase 1.1

Windows 3.x Users
Double click on the appropriate file, click Next throughout the installation procedure, and click Finish at the Installation Complete screen. Now you are done!


TipDownload the fast CPU fix to allow Abebooks Homebase 1.1 to run on fast CPU's (>333mhz). Please note: to use this link you must already have Abebooks Homebase 1.1 installed on your computer.


Macintosh Users
If your browser has not automatically unstuffed the file (i.e. the file still has a ".hqx" extension) then you should decompress the Abebooks Homebase file now. You can do so by dragging the download file (HB68Knew.sea.hqx or HBPPCnew.sea.hqx) icon and dropping it on the Stuffit Expander icon.

Double click the HBMac68K.sea or HBMacPPC.sea icon, save the Abebooks Homebase installation folder on your desktop, and double click the HBMac installation folder. Once you have done this you will see two icons: Fetch 3.0.1 Installer and a Abebooks Homebase folder.

Fetch 3.0.1 is FTP software that you will need to upload your book files to the ABE server. Double click the installer icon to install the Fetch software. Drag the Abebooks Homebase folder into your Applications folder on your hard disk and start Abebooks Homebase. Open the Abebooks Homebase folder in your Applications folder and double click on the Abebooks Homebase application program icon.
