All books listed on our Web sites are available for purchase on our secure server using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and JCB. In addition, each bookseller may offer additional payment methods such as PayPal, check, or money order. (Please see below for important information on using branded gift cards.) When selecting a payment method other than the credit cards listed above, you will need to arrange payment directly with the bookseller.
Viewing a Bookseller's Payment Methods:
1. Perform a search on AbeBooks.com. 2. In the search results, find the book you are interested in and click the bookseller's name. That particular bookseller's acceptable Payment Methods are listed on the right side of the Bookseller & Payment Information tab on the Book Details page. All orders should go through the AbeBooks checkout page, even if you are not going to pay by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and JCB. Placing the order through AbeBooks provides you with the additional security and protection of our 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee and access to AbeBooks Customer Support.
A Note about Branded Gift Cards: Whether or not your branded (VISA / MasterCard/ American Express) gift card can be used to purchase on AbeBooks depends on the Terms and Conditions of the card itself. While AbeBooks does not issue gift cards, some customers have used credit card branded gift cards successfully on our site. Others have experienced difficulty. We have investigated and have discovered that different gift cards have different Terms and Conditions - some allow online purchases, while others do not; some allow cross-border transactions (AbeBooks is in Canada), while others do not. There may be other terms specific to your card that might prevent the transaction from completing successfully. Simply check the Terms and Conditions that came with your card or, if you can't find the information you're looking for there, call the customer service number located on the card itself for assistance. In addition, should a refund be necessary, a credit cannot be posted to any branded gift cards. If you've placed an order with a branded gift card, it will be necessary for you to contact Customer Support in the event that a refund must be issued.
