Reason Notes Item did not arrive The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has not arrived. This option will not be available if the order has been updated with valid tracking information. If such tracking information is provided after the return has been initiated, the return will be cancelled. Item damaged The item was damaged during shipping. Item not as described The condition of the book does not match the description on Abebooks. Buyer does not want item* The buyer has changed their mind and does not want the book. Booksellers are not required to accept returns for this reason and have two days within which to decline. If the return is accepted, the book price will be refunded upon return receipt of the book. For orders placed on AbeBooks.com, buyer receives book price only. For orders placed on AbeBooks.co.uk, AbeBooks.de, AbeBooks.fr, AbeBooks.it, or IberLibro.com, buyer receives book price plus original shipping. In all cases, the buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. Incorrect Item delivered The book received is not the book that was ordered. The following return reasons can only be selected by the bookseller: Order accepted in error The bookseller confirmed the order but subsequently discovered it did not match the online description or that it was out of stock. Buyer cancelled before shipping The bookseller confirmed the order but cancellation was requested by the buyer prior to the item being shipped. Partial refund The bookseller has issued a partial refund amount, usually based on prior agreement with the buyer. The buyer is refunded only the amount specified.
* Due to legal requirements in Europe, booksellers are required to accept all returns for 'buyer does not want item' when the order was placed on AbeBooks.co.uk, AbeBooks.de, AbeBooks.fr, AbeBooks.it, or IberLibro.com. In addition, for orders placed on these domains, European law requires a full refund of both the book price and original shipping. On AbeBooks.com, buyers can select this return reason but the bookseller may choose to decline the return request. Since booksellers are required to respond to all buyer inquiries with two business days, the return is considered to be accepted by the bookseller if not cancelled within those two days.
