Review:
Effectively fulfills the vital need for more up-to-date information on this remarkable country. Ooi has provided users with an unequivocally detailed road map for analyzing the cultural, economic, and political intricacies of modern Malaysia.... A great resource for those looking to fill gaps in the areas of Far Eastern relations, economics, and culture. (Booklist, October 2009)
Entries are concise but thorough and well written, and the book benefits from a number of extra featues, such as a list of acronyms and abbreviations, maps, a long chronology, a descriptive introduction, and appendixes. . . . The extensive bibliography, complete with its own table of contents, is an invaluable contribution to Malaysian studies. . . . This is an essential reference work for all programs on this region. (American Reference Books Annual)
A detailed, by-term portrait of the complex nation of Malaysia....A particularly stunning resource is the meticulously composed, 74-page bibliography. Welcome coverage of largely uncharted scholarly territory. (Library Journal, August 2009)
