About the Author:

Terry Gosliner has been studying opisthobranch gastropods for twenty years. He is an internationally recognized authority on the classification and evolution of opisthobranch molluscs, having published over forty scientific papers on their systematics. His doctoral dissertation concerned the evolutionary relationships of the primitive opisthobranchs. He has conducted research around much of the world's oceans and such isolated islands as Hawaii, the Galapagos, Tristan da Cunha, Gough, Aldabra, and New Guinea. Dr. Gosliner spent three years as curator at the South African Museum in Cape Town where most of the material for this book was collected. Presently, he is curator of molluscs at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
