In the process of working on topological problems topologists have defined a wide variety of topological properties. It is often useful in the study of topology and the understanding of abstracts to determine that one property does not follow from another. One of the easiest ways of doing this is to find examples which exhibit one property but not another. In this book, Steen and Seebach, together with five students in an undergraduate research project canvassed the field of topology and compiled counterexamples in topology to provide one source for instruction and research purposes.
