The VARORIUM EDITION OF THE POEMS OF WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS Edited by Peter Allt and Russell K. Alspach (ISBN: 9780026327008) Yeats, W. B.;Allt, Peter;Alspach, Russell K. Quantity Available: 1
Book Description: Macmillan, New York, 1957. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. First, Limited edition. Octavo, xxxiv, 884pp., two-color cloth; lacks acetate dust jacket; in fine publisher's slipcase. This special printing is limited to 825 numbered copies signed by Yeats: this is copy no. 656. A remarkable signed edition insofar as it appeared nearly two decades after this poet's death. In anticipation of a definitive ediion of his poems, Yeats had autographed a number of pages for insertion into the finished book, but his death and WWII interfered with the planned publication until years later. "The editors' intent has been to note all the changes Yeats made in his poems in the course of their successive printings." Yeats was the first Irishman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, 1923.
