Dr. David Goetsch is Provost of the Joint Campus of the University of West Florida and Okaloosa-Walton College where he also serves as Professor of Quality and Safety Management. Before entering higher education full time in 1976, Dr. Goetsch worked in the private sector for eight years holding positions in engineering, quality management, and safety management. He also spent two year in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. Upon entering higher education full time, Dr. Goetsch founded his own business consulting firm, David L. Goetsch and Associates. Through this firm, Dr. Goetsch continues to work with private sector companies providing them with consulting and training services in the areas of global competitiveness, quality, continual improvement, and safety.
Dr. Goetsch holds the following degrees: Associate of Science in Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Master of Science in Business Management, Master of Science in Industrial Psychology, Master of Science in International Relations, Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and Ph.D. in Technical Education. His awards include: Outstanding Technical Program in the United States in 1984 as selected by the U.S. Department of Education; Outstanding Technical Educator of the Year in 1986 for the state of Florida; Outstanding Professor of the Year for the University of West Florida in 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985; Economic Development Volunteer of the Year for Northwest Florida in 1992 and again in 1996; and Distinguished Alumnus of the University of West Florida.
