He was NATO’s first Manfred Wörner Feow in 1996.He has been professor of history and internationa reations at Coumbia University and the Johns Hopkins Schoo of Advanced Internationa Studies as we as professor of strategy at the U.S. Nava War Coege. His atest book, The Cod War and Soviet Insecurity: The Stain Years , was the winner of the American Historica Association’s 1997 George L. Beer Prize. Sven G. Hotsmark is professor at the Norwegian Nationa Defence Educationa Centre/Institute for Defence Studies (NDEC/IDS). He directs the Institute’s internationa programmes, and is currenty Head of Studies at the NDEC. His has written on the history of Norwegian and Soviet foreign poicy and of Nordic communism, incuding Soviet-Norwegian reations 1917-1995 (1995) and The dipomacy of the weak: GDR in Norway, 1949-73 (2000). Andreas Wenger is professor of internationa security poicy and director of the Center for Security Studies at the Swiss Federa Institute of Technoogy (ETH) in Zurich.
