Each gives an up-to-date look at the geography, history, culture, economy, and government of a particular country. The organization, which includes chapter subheadings, adds to the usefulness of each volume. Captioned full-color photographs are placed near accompanying text. An especially useful feature is a reference section, "Mini-Facts at a Glance," which summarizes information about geography, nature, everyday life, economy and industry, important dates, and important people. This series is more comprehensive than Lerner's "Families Around the World" series. Dillon's "Discovering Our Heritage" series has less visual appeal, although it covers much of the same information.
