From the Publisher:
Xenia Smith and Leslie Wetzon. Executive search specialists. Boardroom detectives. They seek out Wall Street's top guns and steal them away from their employers. They're headhunters -- but what they often find is murder.

When Smith treats Wetzon to a session with a fashionable fortune-teller for her birthday, Wetzon is more than a little skeptical -- until the psychic's vision of blood on the street turns out to be all too true. A ruthless, fast-track broker Wetzon has just placed in a cushy new position is found shot to death on a Central Park bench. Suddenly Wall Street's sexiest and sharpest team is propelled into a murder investigation with more twists and turns than a Manhattan cab ride. Was Brian Middleton the victim of a mugging? A crime of passion? Or a deal gone sour? Before they can get all the answers, a second victim reveals further shockers and a killer who is bullish on Smith, Wetzon . . .and murder.

From Kirkus Reviews:
Headhunter Leslie Wetzon is having an awful week: she and her partner, Xenia Smith, have escalated their bickering; her cop- boyfriend is away; she has to move from her apartment; and a broker she's just placed in a new firm, Brian Middleton, didn't show up for his new job. He couldn't--he's dead. Whodunit? Leslie, between power brunches and lunches, etc., casts a suspicious eye on Brian's wife (the couple bitterly contested custody of their client list); the alcoholic Penny Ann, a client whom Brian swindled; her missing daughter, whom he seduced; and the psychiatrist to them all--the mellow, sublimely fatuous Dr. Jerry--and his sequined wife Barbie. Leslie is tailed, bashed, and beset all around but saves her biggest fears for her reactions to an eligible dinner date, the distinguished Alton, who just happened to arbitrate a case involving Brian. Not to worry: the killer's false r‚sum‚ eventually comes to light, and then it's back to business as usual for Leslie. More trendiness and upscale name-dropping. Not to mention dumb plotting. -- Copyright ©1992, Kirkus Associates, LP. All rights reserved.
