Information on accessing Samba from various clients is provided, including Windows for Workgroups, Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000, OS2, and the UNIX clients, smbclient and rpcclient. Also covered are the various password options and issues along with handling roaming profiles for both Windows 9X and Windows NT clients. An appendix provides information on each smb.conf parameter including which version of Samba the parameter has been introduced in or removed from, along with its description.
About the Author:
As well as being a member of the Samba team, Richard Sharpe is a Linux consultant and a courseware developer and trainer who lives in Adelaide, South Australia. Prior to writing Special Edition Using Samba, he contributed about a third of the material in SAMS Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours.
