Thirty firms were solicited to provide designs for the site, and ten were selected for interview. Of these, three were chosen to provide plans. The competing finalists were Kohn Pedersen Fox (New York); Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (Houston, San Francisco, Chicago); and Murphy/Jahn (Chicago). This book is a collection of drawings, renderings, and rationales by the architects -- William Pedersen, Richard Keating, and Helmut Jahn -- who signed off on their firms' submissions. 119 pages, plentifully illustrated (occasionally in color), with Postscript by Paul Goldberger, and Credits and Acknowledgements.
