The twice a day juicing of those sensless beasts left an indelible mark on me. I decided long ago, never again.
I haven't. And I won't.
The first attempt at writing was at the Minnesota State Fair while attempting to sell wood sculptures of historic western faces. The folks there held no appreciation for cowboys and Indians so the two week fair was spent in the start of a book on the art of carving faces. An immediate success. Sold thousands almost before a blink. the next book on relief carving has been almost as successful. Both continue to sell well. Even after winning several awards for wood sculpture a slow burnout destroyed any desire to continue. The love of woodworking, however, turned my attention to the design and construction of outdoor furniture. With a new classic look.
Tired of the age-old, mundane style of outdoor furniture a determination arose to produce swings, picnic tables, chairs, gliders, lounges and others with sleek, flowing lines yet strong and durable. Proud of the outcome a decision was made to share the knowlege with others by writing how-to books. Four are available with more to come. Try them all. You'll have a lot of fun.

Book Description Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The cowboy was an integral part of the old west. Much of life in those times revolved around him. Not only did he act as a cow nurse, herding, driving, and branding, but he also stacked hay, and built corrals and barns. He should be remembered too for his dedicated defense of the brand he rode for, even in the face of death. The Saturday night shindigs wouldn't have been the same without him either. Most cowboys couldn't dance a lick, but as long as that little gal was in his arms, who cared what the feet were doing! These cowboys were tough men. They were independent but when needed they were there. A rare breed!_x000D_To carve these qualities into a face is indeed a challenge. Bob Lundy takes the carver through three projects, The Cowboy, The Indian, and The Mountain Man. With informative instructions (laced with a good deal of humor) and clear photographs he goes from the raw wood to a finished, realistic portrayal of these characters of the old west. A gallery of 16 other figures is included to give the reader other ideas._x000D_This book is written for both the beginner, who is looking for complete how-to information from start to finish, and for the veteran, who is interested only in a tip here and there to improve their work._x000D_Lundy approaches his work with an eye for the personality of the characters. He will instill that sensitivity to the reader, giving the carver a feeling of closeness and intimacy with the people who emerge from the wood._x000D__x000D_ AUTHOR: Three carving projects from the old west: The Cowboy, The Indian, and The Mountain Man.
