About the Author:
Steven James Fisher was born in Ohio and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Entering his teens in the late 60's, at the height of the psychedelic era, he experimented with alcohol and various drugs, and soon became a heavy user of both. After getting a GED, he attended music college in Boston, where he learned his trade -- piano tuning -- at which he excelled. He was a book collector (Bukowski, Harry Crews, and Nelson Algren were huge favorites). His stories and poems were published in Triquarterly, Shenandoah, Epoch, Iowa Review, and others. He took his own life in 1993. He was 37.
Review:
"....his sheer talent as a writer make his stories among the most remarkable and memorable of our time." -- Reginald Gibbons -- author of Sweetbitter: A Novel

"I decided early on that he was the best writer of prison life and the drug world I have read." -- Gerald Locklin

"Jim Thompson meets Drugstore Cowboy with Jean Genet standing outside in a freezing desert wind waiting to score." -- Barry Gifford, author of Wild At Heart
