A Winter Solstice Singing Ritual - Softcover
A complete ritual celebration "kit" for your circle, church, or choir to perform.
Included are the narrator's SCRIPT, the READINGS, MUSIC for all 15 songs and sing-alongs, NOTES on the music and production, and all PERFORMANCE RIGHTS.
In addition, a CD of all the music is enclosed, plus TEACHING TRACKS for the harder songs! This was recorded by a premiere women's a capella group, SheWho, from Philadelphia.
You'll need 8-16 singers, a music director, a narrator, readers and volunteers. If you don't have the singers, just play the CD! The ritual takes 1 1/4 hours and singers will need 15-25 hours of rehearsal.

This is a deep and dark Solstice ritual which leads particpants into awareness of their own inner light. It's a non-denominational ritual using a basic ritual format which will offend no one. It makes a wonderful bridge for those who've not been exposed to Earth-based spirituality, and encourages even deeper participation for those who have. This is definitely a participatory ritual: the audience sings along on many songs and meditates on the darkness of their past year and the light each carries within.

People come out joyous and singing and filled with determination to spread their own lights. We've tried to make the presentation as easy as possible by including notes on each of the songs, chants, hymns and sing-alongs, suggestions on the hall set-up and attire, and give a sample program. The fact that the CD contains all of the music in performance as well as teaching tracks (which make it really easy to learn the song parts) is a great plus. We also invite you to call us if you have questions about presentation, and to send us pictures of your group!
- with several different singing groups as a large, community-wide event;
- with a group of drummers and the CD;
- with thirteen people who sight-sang it in an unheated gazebo;
- by myself in my living room;
- with five adults and a four-year-old in my living room during a snowstorm, using the CD.
