About the Author:

Jesus Zarate is from the same generation of Colombian writers that produced Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Alvaro Mutis. Besides his regular column in the Bogota newspaper El Espectador, Zarate wrote numerous plays, several collections of short stories, and the two novels, including El cartero and La carcel.

Translator Gregory Rabassa has been called by The New York Times "one of the best translators to ever draw a breath." His translations include One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar, and My World Is Not of This Kingdom by Joao de Melo.
