In 1996, Patrick Buchanan said: "We're on the verge of taking [the Republican Party] back as prelude to taking back our country as prelude to taking back the destiny of America, and when we get there, my friends, we will be obedient to one sovereign America and that is the sovereign of God himself" (The Nation, D. Corn, 3/11/96).
By 2001, the political forces that agreed with those sentiments had taken control of the government of the old United States. In 2011, they created the apartheid state of the New American Republics. In 2023, following the conclusion of the Second Civil War, Constitutional Democracy was Restored in the Re-United States. This book, published on the 25th anniversary of the Restoration, briefly reviews the political history of the rise and fall of fascism in the old United States and the NAR.
The book's principal purpose is to show how fascism can be gradually introduced into any country, even the world's greatest democracy, by constitutional means. The lessons for our time are that the maintenance of constitutional democracy requires eternal vigilance and that those forces whose aims are essentially fascist in nature must never be allowed even one bite of the apple of governmental power. For once they have bitten into it, they will eat the whole apple, core and all. No sharing and no returns. Regurgitation only by the application of extreme force.
