India is known as the Melting Pot for World Religions, but this assumed a whole new meaning when in our Batch of less than 100 students at IRMA, Anand, Gujarat (Institute of Rural Management, founded by Dr. Verghese Kurien, World Food Prize and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and the Father of the White Revolution), I encountered batch mates who represents every major religion in the world based on their birth in that very faith, including the contributor of Judaism, born of a Jewish mother (traditional Judaism uses matrilineal descent to determine Jewish status). Hence was born, ‘Project Revelation’- where we decided to seek out answers to the greatest questions of life as answered by Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism and Sikhism, where each of us would try to let our respective scriptures talk for itself. The questions were: 1. Who am I 2. Where did I come from 3. Where am I going 4. What is the purpose of (My) life 5. Is there a God, who is God? Each of these questions was answered by the religions one after the other (in alphabetical order). Scriptural reference was given wherever possible to ensure validity and we tried to limit ourselves to the literal interpretation of the scriptures to the extent possible. The contributors are as follows: · On Buddhism: Stanzin Tsephal & Dipankar k (the Buddist monk) · On Christianity: Aju John Varghese (contributor & Editor of the project) · On Hinduism: Bhagirath Iyer · On Islam: Mohammad Shadique Rajjaque · On Jainism: Nitin Jain · On Judaism: Mathew V · On Sikhism: Gaganpreet Singh Kalra We are all on a journey, a journey to illumination, illumination of our souls and our beings as a whole. This endeavour was termed ‘Project Revelation’ and it seeks to reveal truths that might take you closer to Illumination of your being and to give you a perspective of these major religious thoughts of the world. May this resource act as a guiding post in your quest for meaning in this life and of the divine, with this hope and prayer I submit to you this digital replica of the printed book published by me in April 2003 at IRMA with the help of fellow IRMAns who are named above as contributors. Though this content is being made available in digital format ten years after it was published in book format, the contents have been preserved as such to preserve the integrity of the original work.
