About the Author:

Elena Ivanovna Ryabchikova, Ph.D., is the Head of Laboratory of Ultrastructural Investigations and pathomorphology at SRC VB "Vector" in Novosibirsk, Region of Siberia, Russia. She received her MSc in anatomy, embryology, and histology from Moscow State University. She earned her DSc in biological virology and histology, embryology, and cytology from SRC VB "Vector." She has been a researcher at SRC VB "Vector" for over 20 years. Her specialties include electron microcopic studies of viruses, cells, animal tissues, and organs; pathogenesis of viral infections; and filoviral hemorrhagic fevers.

Barbara Breidenbach Saunders-Price, Ph.D., is a senior research scientist at Battelle Science and Technology International in Aberdeen, Maryland, USA. She received her MA and Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University. She has spent much of her career in environmental fate and public health risk assessment, and in nuclear, biological, and chemical defense studies. She has been an editor for the ASA Newsletter for over 15 years and Chair or Co-Chair for each of the Chemical Biological Medical Treatment Symposia.
