About the Author:
Allan B. Wolter, O.F.M., an outstanding giant in scholarship on Blessed John Duns Scotus, died November 15, 2006, nine days shy of his 93rd birthday. Fr. Allan occasionally taught philosophy on the campus of St. Bonaventure University during the summers in the 1950s and 1960s. He also returned to campus in 1998 as the first Fr. Joseph A. Doino, O.F.M. Visiting Professor of Franciscan Studies. He retired from active academic life in November 2002, returning to his home province of the Friars Minor of the Sacred Heart (St. Louis, MO), where he joined his friar-brother, Martin Wolter. He moved to the friar s retirement community in Sherman, Illinois, where he lived until requiring hospice care in Springfield, Illinois, a few days before his death. Oleg Bychkov is an Associate Professor of Theology at St. Bonaventure University. He joined St. Bonaventure Theology Department in the fall of 1999. Dr. Bychkov received his Diploma in Classics from the University of Moscow (1988), M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (1992, 99), and was a Soros Scholar at the University of Oxford in 1989-1990. His areas of interest and expertise are classical languages, medieval philosophy and theology, and contemporary theological aesthetics.
