Paul Coram is an Associate Professor in Accounting at TheUniversity of Melbourne. Paul has a Masters in Accounting from TheUniversity of Western Australia and a PhD from The AustralianNational University. He worked as an auditor and became a CharteredAccountant with one of the Big Four firms in Australia, alsogaining work experience as an auditor in London. He is activelyinvolved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has been amember for over 15 years. Paul has postgraduate qualifications ineducation and has lectured at the University of South Australia andThe University of Western Australia. He was the inaugural winner ofthe Pearson Education Accounting Lecturer of the Year Award in2001, endorsed by the Accounting and Finance Association ofAustralia and New Zealand. Paul complements his teaching withresearch in auditing, and has a particular interest in the areas ofaudit quality and the value of assurance services. He has presentedand published his research in Australia and internationally,including publishing on several occasions in recent years in theleading auditing journal, Auditing: A Journal of Practice andTheory.
Barry J. Cooper is Professor of Accounting and InterimHead of the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at DeakinUniversity, Melbourne. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Masterof Education from Melbourne University, a PhD from RMIT Universityand is a Fellow of CPA Australia and the Association of CharteredCertified Accountants (ACCA) and was recently elected VicePresident of ACCA, the largest global accounting body. Aftergaining experience as an auditor, Barry joined RMIT University in1972 where he taught auditing and financial accounting. In 1987, hejoined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and was Head of theDepartment of Accountancy for 4 years. After returning toMelbourne, he was appointed Head of Accountancy at RMIT Universityuntil late 1997, when he took leave and joined CPA Australia asNational Director — Member Services. During his time at CPAAustralia, Barry was responsible for the operations of the CPAdivisions throughout Australia and Asia. During his academiccareer, Barry has undertaken a number of research projects in theareas of auditing, ethics and accounting education, presented atnumerous conferences, published a number of articles inprofessional and academic journals, and co-authored severalbooks.
Peter D. Richardson is the finance manager for a publicsector organisation as well teaching financial reporting andauditing to students preparing for the exams of the ICAA and CPAAustralia. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and is a member ofthe Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Afterspending 10 years working for various private accounting firms inthe United Kingdom, Peter joined BPP Professional Education, aUK-based public company which, among other things, teaches studentsstrategies for passing their UK professional accounting exams.After 6 years with BPP in the United Kingdom, Peter relocated toSingapore as managing director of the local BPP subsidiary, wherehe was responsible for setting up a BPP school. In 2006 he moved toAustralia and joined Deakin University as a lecturer in accountingand auditing.
