Did you ever wonder why, in this day and age, attractive young men who seem to have everything going for them drop it all and become Catholic priests? Prospect Press has just published a book which will let you in on the secret.

RUNNING TO PARADISE is the true story of a young Catholic priest who is also an avid runner. Using a priest's actual words, thoughts and experiences (but protecting his identity), author Frances Winfield Bremer uses Father "Frank's" marathon training as a metaphor for his priesthood. She takes the reader behind the veil into a special world of commitment, self-sacrifice, and joy.

Father Frank's story will move anyone whose strength and faith have been tested by everyday life, and fascinate Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

Scheduled for publication on November 5, 2000, the day of the New York City Marathon, free promotional copies of RUNNING TO PARADISE will be passed out to runners after the finish.

One-half the proceeds from the sale of Running to Paradise will go to the Catholic Relief Services for their work with the poor and displaced of the world.

From the Author:
I was working hard on an historical novel when I felt an irresistible nudge to write a book about a year in the life of a young

Catholic priest. I am a recent Catholic convert myself and had become intrigued by the young priests I came to know.

What makes an attractive young man, with everything going for him, drop it all and enter the priesthood with its lifetime commitment to self-sacrifice? What was a priest's life really like?

I found a priest who was willing to let me be a fly on the wall of his life (which took an enormous leap of trust on his part!) for a year if I would protect his identity and the identity of his parish.

Father "Frank" is also a runner, and in RUNNING TO PARADISE he runs the New York City Marathon. By the end of the book the marathon became a metaphor for the priesthood itself.

About the Author:
Frances F. Bremer, author of Coping with His Success and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, has appeared on Donahue, the Charlie Rose Show and numerous radio talk shows. She will present copies of Running to Paradise to runners on Marathon Day and will be making numerous appearances on behalf of the book. Her husband presented the manuscript of RUNNING TO PARADISE TO POPE JOHN PAUL II who offered his Apostolic Blessing.
