Offered here SIGNED by the Artist and in AS NEW condition is the Deluxe Limited Edition of Mark Klett's "Saguaros," published in 2007 by Radius Books. This is a hardcover volume with pictorial cardboard cover (no dust jacket as issued), measuring 15 x 12 inches and containing 80 duotone plates in 96 pages. The book is signed and numbered 12/50. Also included is a silver gelatin print (signed, dated, and numbered on verso), measuring 13 7/8 x 11 inches on 14 1/8-x-11 1/4-inch paper and protected in a sturdy, gray, cloth-covered, board folder blind-stamped with the artist's name. Both items are enclosed within a specially designed gray cloth slipcase, blind-stamped with the title and measuring 15.5 x 12.25 inches. Mark Klett, a resident of Arizona, has been intimately tied to the Desert Southwest since his work on the Rephotographic Survey Project in the late 1970s. This work reproduced the same views of the American West taken by pioneering photographers in the nineteenth century. He continuing working in the West and also on his rephotographic survey work. During this time he has photographed the endemic, nearly animate, saguaro cacti of the Sonoran Desert. From the Publisher: "His portraits of these giants cacti, made from the beginning of his career to the present, are straightforward and frontal, objective yet inspired. Klett is known for teasing out the implications of man's presence-both historical and recreationalin the landscape. In this case, vital young saguaros, middle-aged contenders with gunshot wounds, and wizened elders are treated as wise inhabitants."
