Eva and Jonas are two separate pots of poison, both coming inexorably to a boil. For Eva, the poison stems from the dawning realization that her cozy family life has been a lie, that her loving husband loathes her and has been having an affair. Jonas, for years the keeper of his parents? secrets, has transferred all his obsessive yearnings for connection to a woman who now lies in a coma. Both Eva and Jonas are carrying enough rage and despair to destroy themselves. But when the two of them come together, that destructive potential is magnified to a terrifying extent.

About the Author:
Karin Alvtegen is one of Scandinavia's most acclaimed and bestselling crime writers. She was born in Joenkoeping, Sweden, in 1965 and had a varied career, including work in set design for film and stage, before she started to write. She won Sweden's most prestigious crime novel award, the Glass Key, for Missing. Her novel Shadow was shortlisted for the CWA International Dagger 2009. She is the great-neice of Astrid Lindgren (author of the Pippi Longstocking stories), and lives in Stockholm.
Review:
Alvtegen's chilling novels are head and shoulders above the rest of the Scandi crew * * Daily Mail * * Reminiscent of Ruth Rendell at her best * * Herald * * Alvtegen is a name to watch * * Guardian * * A compelling tale...full of false leads and bloody deeds * * Sunday Herald * * Alvtegen powerfully evokes Sibylla's sense of persecution and conveys what it means to live as an outsider, without ever compromising this compulsive thriller * * Metro * * A genuine hit . . . a brilliant novel -- Gefle Dagblad * * Sweden * * A very powerful novel. Skilfully, very intimately and realistically, Alvtegen describes an individual living outside the margins * * Helsingborgs Dagblad * * A gripping, multi-faceted thriller. It is not only about brutal murder, but also about something more profound - an individual's road to awareness about her own life and value . . . Alvtegen is already amongst the top Swedish crime and thriller authors * * Folkbladet Joenkoeping * *
