This 324-page widely illustrated book presents the history of Daum glassware in Nancy. In 1878, Jean Daum, a former Alsatian notary forced into exile, acquires a Nancy glassware. At his death his two sons, Auguste and Antonin succeed him. Around 1891, Antonin decided to create an artistic department within the family business, which produced only bottles and ordinary cups. This desire for change is not the result of chance, but is part of the recognition of the decorative arts. Initially modest, this new manufacturing rapidly grows. The resumption of popular and regional forms and ornaments soon gave way to a naturalistic reference more in tune with the wish of certain personalities of the decorative arts and in particular of Emile Gallé. The two first artists of the company, Jacques Gruber and Henri Bergé, are the artisans of this evolution alongside the leaders.
